Bec Allen

Bec Allen is an Integrative Physiotherapist at Biio with a focus on hypermobility disorders, dysautonomia, and complex, multi‑system conditions. Her professional work is informed by both postgraduate training and personal experience managing hypermobility, giving her insight into the practical challenges these conditions may bring.

Hypermobility and Complex Conditions

Bec works with people across the lifespan who have hypermobility spectrum disorders (HSD) and Ehlers‑Danlos syndromes (EDS). She uses a combination of targeted strengthening, proprioceptive training, and movement re‑education, tailored to each person’s presentation and goals. Her aim is to support joint stability, functional capacity, and reduced injury risk, using strategies agreed upon with the patient.

Dysautonomia, POTS and ME/CFS

Bec also works with people experiencing dysautonomia, including Postural Orthostatic Tachycardia Syndrome (POTS), and with those living with Myalgic Encephalomyelitis/Chronic Fatigue Syndrome (ME/CFS). Her approach includes gentle movement programs, autonomic reconditioning techniques, and pacing strategies, applied in line with each person’s capacity and relevant evidence. She considers how hypermobility and autonomic dysfunction can overlap and designs plans to address interacting symptoms.

Paediatric and Adolescent Physiotherapy

Bec works with adolescents managing movement difficulties, injury recovery, or developmental coordination concerns. She develops age‑appropriate therapy plans that focus on strengthening, coordination, and skill development, taking into account the needs of growing bodies. These plans are set in collaboration with the young person and their family.

Care Approach

Bec aims to understand each patient’s health history, goals, and priorities before recommending a plan. Her work emphasises education, shared decision‑making, and building practical skills that may help with self‑management. She considers both the physical and day‑to‑day activity impacts of each condition when tailoring treatment.

Professional Development

Bec maintains ongoing professional development in hypermobility, paediatric physiotherapy, and management of autonomic disorders. Her practice is informed by current research and professional guidelines.

Outside her clinical work, Bec enjoys a range of exercise‑based activities including running, sport, and strength training, which informs her understanding of physical activity from both a personal and professional perspective.
